Editorial Policy

The Journal of Research and Development (JRD) is guided by a strong editorial policy framework designed to uphold the principles of academic integrity, transparency, inclusivity, and excellence in scholarly publishing. Our editorial policies ensure that every manuscript is treated fairly, ethically, and consistently, in alignment with internationally recognized best practices.

1. Editorial Independence

The editorial decisions at JRD are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board, without influence from the publisher, sponsors, or other external bodies. Editorial authority is exercised solely based on the scientific merit, originality, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.

2. Scope and Suitability

JRD accepts submissions from a wide range of disciplines in science, engineering, medicine, social sciences, and applied innovation. Manuscripts must fall within the journal’s defined scope and demonstrate scholarly rigor and practical significance.

3. Peer Review Policy

  • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  • Reviews are conducted by at least two qualified experts in the relevant field.
  • Editors ensure that the review process is fair, timely, and constructive.
  • Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments in a detailed and respectful manner during revisions.

4. Ethical Standards

JRD adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We require that:

  • Authors disclose all conflicts of interest and adhere to ethical standards in study design and reporting.
  • Editors and reviewers declare conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality.
  • All research involving human or animal subjects includes appropriate ethical approval.

5. Authorship and Contributions

  • Authorship must be limited to individuals who made significant contributions to the research.
  • Changes to authorship after submission must be approved by all listed authors and justified.
  • All contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

6. Handling Misconduct

The editorial office investigates all allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices. When confirmed, actions may include:

  • Rejection or retraction of the manuscript
  • Notification to the author’s institution
  • Publication of an editorial notice

7. Appeals and Complaints

Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions or report unethical behaviour. Appeals must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, if necessary, an independent editorial panel.

8. Editorial Board Conduct

Editors and board members must:

  • Remain objective and unbiased in all editorial matters
  • Treat all submissions confidentially and respectfully
  • Recuse themselves from decisions where conflicts of interest exist

9. Open Access and Licensing

JRD is an open-access journal, and all published articles are freely accessible under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, unless otherwise stated. This policy promotes knowledge sharing and unrestricted reuse with appropriate credit.

10. Continuous Improvement

JRD continuously evaluates its editorial workflows, peer review processes, and ethical standards to ensure compliance with evolving best practices in scholarly publishing.
