Peer Review Process

The Journal of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry (JOIC) is committed to publishing high-quality, original research through a rigorous and transparent peer review process. Our peer review system ensures that all submissions are evaluated fairly, objectively, and with scientific integrity.

1. Submission and Initial Screening

  • Once a manuscript is submitted, the editorial office conducts an initial screening to check for:
    • Scope and relevance to organic and inorganic chemistry
    • Adherence to journal guidelines and formatting
    • Originality and ethical compliance (including plagiarism check)
  • Manuscripts that meet these criteria are forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors for assignment to expert reviewers.

2. Reviewer Selection

  • JOIC follows a double-blind peer review policy, keeping both author and reviewer identities confidential.
  • Reviewers are chosen based on their expertise, experience, and familiarity with the subject area.
  • Each manuscript is typically reviewed by two independent reviewers, ensuring balanced and unbiased evaluation.

3. Review Guidelines

Reviewers are asked to evaluate:

  • Originality and Novelty: Does the manuscript offer new insights or methods?
  • Scientific Quality: Are the methods robust, and are results accurately presented and interpreted?
  • Clarity and Presentation: Is the manuscript well-organized, clear, and complete?
  • Ethical Considerations: Compliance with ethical standards, including human/animal studies.

Reviewers provide constructive feedback and a recommendation: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

4. Editorial Decision

  • Editors assess reviewer comments and make the final decision regarding the manuscript.
  • Authors receive detailed feedback, including reviewer comments and editorial notes.
  • Decisions may include:
    • Accept: Manuscript meets all standards and is ready for publication.
    • Minor Revision: Minor changes required before acceptance.
    • Major Revision: Substantial improvements needed; resubmission is encouraged.
    • Reject: Manuscript does not meet the journal’s criteria.

5. Revision and Final Acceptance

  • Authors submit revised manuscripts addressing reviewer comments.
  • Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the editor, and sometimes sent back to reviewers for final assessment.
  • Once all issues are satisfactorily addressed, the manuscript is accepted for publication.

6. Timeliness and Transparency

  • JOIC strives to ensure a timely peer review process without compromising rigor.
  • Authors are kept informed at every stage, and the journal maintains transparent communication between authors, editors, and reviewers.

7. Ethical Standards

  • JOIC adheres to the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) to prevent misconduct.
  • Confidentiality, impartiality, and integrity are central to every step of the review process.
