The Journal of Neurodegenerative Disorders & Brain Research (JNDBR) welcomes original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute significantly to the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodegenerative conditions. To streamline the submission and ensure a transparent workflow, authors are encouraged to follow the structured submission process outlined below.

✦ Step 1: Prepare Your Manuscript

Authors must ensure that the manuscript is:

  • Fully written in clear and concise English
  • Formatted according to the Author Guidelines
  • Includes all essential sections such as title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, and figures/tables (if applicable)
  • Free of plagiarism or duplicate content
  • Accompanied by ethical approvals (IRB/IEC) for studies involving humans or animals
  • Contains clear disclosures of any conflicts of interest and funding sources

Refer to the Instructions for Authors page before proceeding with submission.

✦ Step 2: Online Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the JNDBR Online Submission Portal.

You will be required to:

  • Register or log in to your author account
  • Fill in the manuscript metadata (title, abstract, author details, keywords, etc.)
  • Upload the manuscript file and any supplementary materials
  • Suggest 2–4 potential reviewers (optional but encouraged)
  • Agree to the terms of ethical publishing and submission declarations

A confirmation email will be sent once the submission is successfully received.

✦ Step 3: Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editorial Office to ensure:

  • The topic aligns with the journal's scope
  • Manuscript structure, formatting, and ethics declarations are complete
  • No evidence of plagiarism or duplicate publication

Manuscripts that meet these basic requirements proceed to peer review, while incomplete or out-of-scope submissions may be returned without review.

✦ Step 4: Peer Review Process

Eligible manuscripts are sent for double-blind peer review by at least two expert reviewers. This process typically involves:

  • Detailed evaluation of scientific validity, novelty, and clarity
  • Reviewer recommendations: Accept / Minor Revision / Major Revision / Reject
  • Confidential feedback to editors and comments for authors

The review process aims to be completed within 3–4 weeks from the date of submission.

✏️ Step 5: Author Revisions

If revisions are requested:

  • Authors will receive reviewer comments via the submission portal
  • A point-by-point response letter must be submitted along with the revised manuscript
  • Revised submissions must be returned within 2–4 weeks, depending on the revision type

Substantial changes may require additional review rounds.

✦ Step 6: Final Decision & Notification

The final decision is made by the handling editor or Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewer input and revision quality. Authors will receive one of the following outcomes:

  • Accept
  • Accept with Minor Edits
  • Revise and Resubmit
  • Reject

An official decision letter is sent via email and updated in the author dashboard.

✦ Step 7: Production & Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to:

  • Copyediting and typesetting for clarity, consistency, and formatting
  • Author proofing to approve final version before publication
  • Online publication under Open Access license

DOIs are assigned immediately upon publication and articles are indexed as per journal standards.

✦ Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors may request to withdraw a manuscript prior to acceptance by submitting a formal request. Post-acceptance withdrawal is discouraged unless ethically justified.
