Editorial Policy

The Journal of Neurodegenerative Disorders & Brain Research (JNDBR) is dedicated to publishing rigorously reviewed, scientifically sound, and ethically responsible research in all aspects of neurodegeneration and brain science. Our editorial policy ensures transparency, fairness, and quality at every stage of the publication process, reinforcing the trust of authors, readers, reviewers, and the broader scientific community.

✦ Editorial Independence

JNDBR maintains strict editorial independence. All editorial decisions—ranging from manuscript selection to rejection or acceptance—are made solely based on the scientific merit, originality, and relevance of the work, free from commercial, institutional, or political influence.

✦ Manuscript Evaluation

Every submitted manuscript undergoes a multi-step evaluation process:

  1. Initial Screening:
The editorial team assesses the manuscript’s fit with the journal’s scope, adherence to submission guidelines, and potential for scientific contribution.
  2. Peer Review:
Submissions passing the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review by qualified experts. The identity of both authors and reviewers is kept confidential to ensure unbiased evaluations.
  3. Editorial Decision:
The final decision is made by an Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor based on reviewers’ reports, ethical compliance, and overall quality of the manuscript.

✦ Authorship & Contributions

All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the research, manuscript drafting, or critical revision. JNDBR follows ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) guidelines for authorship and contributor acknowledgment.

⚖️ Ethics & Integrity

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to adhere to the following:

  • No plagiarism or duplicate submissions
  • Proper citation and credit for others' work
  • Transparent reporting of funding sources and conflicts of interest
  • Ethical approval for studies involving humans or animals

Misconduct will result in manuscript rejection, retraction, and notification to the author’s institution when appropriate.

✦ Peer Review Transparency

  • Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, publication record, and neutrality.
  • Review reports must be constructive, respectful, and confidential.
  • Editors may override reviewer recommendations when justified.
  • Authors are given the opportunity to respond to reviewers’ comments in revision rounds.

✦ Conflict of Interest

All participants in the editorial process—authors, reviewers, and editors—must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could bias their actions. JNDBR ensures such disclosures are assessed and managed to maintain integrity and objectivity.

⏱ Editorial Timelines

  • Initial decision: Within 7–10 business days of submission
  • Peer review duration: Typically completed within 3–4 weeks
  • Revisions: Authors are given 2–4 weeks depending on the complexity
  • Final decision: Issued within one week post-review completion

JNDBR strives to provide a rapid yet thorough review experience without compromising quality.

✏️ Editorial Board Responsibilities

Our editorial board comprises international experts in neurodegenerative science, clinical neuroscience, and brain research. They are actively involved in:

  • Maintaining the scientific integrity of the journal
  • Guiding policy and strategy
  • Handling submissions in their areas of expertise
  • Upholding ethical and quality standards.

✦ Appeals & Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a reasoned rebuttal. Appeals are evaluated fairly by an independent editor or the Editor-in-Chief. Complaints about editorial conduct, ethics, or process are handled confidentially and with due diligence.

✦ Commitment to Diversity & Equity

JNDBR values diversity and inclusion across all dimensions—gender, geography, career stage, and field of expertise. We aim to ensure fair representation and equitable treatment of authors, reviewers, and editors from all backgrounds.
