Instructions for Reviewers

At JNDBR, peer reviewers play a fundamental role in maintaining the integrity, objectivity, and quality of the journal’s scientific content. We highly value your time, expertise, and commitment. The following guidelines are intended to help reviewers provide thorough, constructive, and timely feedback to authors and editors.

✦ Reviewer Responsibilities

1. Objective Evaluation

  • Provide a fair, balanced, and critical evaluation of the manuscript’s scientific merit, originality, relevance, and clarity.
  • Base your comments on evidence and avoid personal criticism.

2. Timely Review

  • Reviews should be completed within 21 days of accepting the invitation.
  • If more time is needed, notify the editorial office promptly.

3. Confidentiality

  • Treat all manuscript materials as confidential documents.
  • Do not share, discuss, or use the manuscript’s content for personal advantage.

✦ Review Focus Areas

When evaluating a manuscript, reviewers are encouraged to consider:

  • Relevance to neurodegenerative disorders and brain research
  • Originality and significance of the study
  • Clarity and structure of writing and figures
  • Methodological rigor and statistical soundness
  • Ethical compliance, especially in studies involving humans or animals
  • Strength of conclusions and alignment with data presented.

✍️ Reviewer Comments

  • Provide detailed, constructive feedback in the “Comments to Authors” section.
  • Summarize the major findings of the manuscript and clearly identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Use polite and professional language, even when critiquing major flaws.
  • If rejecting a manuscript, offer specific reasons and suggestions that could help improve future work.

In the “Comments to the Editor” section (visible only to editors), you may include confidential concerns, such as:

  • Potential ethical violations
  • Suspected plagiarism
  • Concerns about authorship, data integrity, or duplication.

Review Recommendations

You will be asked to choose one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revision
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

The final decision rests with the Editor, who will consider your recommendation along with other reviews and editorial judgment.

⚖️ Conflict of Interest

Please decline to review if you:

  • Have recent collaborations or personal relationships with the authors
  • Work at the same institution as any of the authors
  • Have any financial or intellectual interests that may affect your impartiality.

Recognition & Confidentiality

  • Reviewers may opt to be acknowledged annually on the journal’s website (optional).
  • The identity of reviewers remains confidential under the journal’s double-blind peer review policy.
