The Journal of Mental Health and Psychiatry (JMHP) welcomes high-quality contributions that advance understanding, research, and clinical practice in psychiatry, psychology, and mental health sciences. To ensure an efficient and transparent submission experience, authors are encouraged to follow the structured process outlined below.

1. Preparing Your Manuscript

Before submitting, authors must ensure that their manuscript adheres to the journal’s Instructions for Authors. Key requirements include:

  • Formatting the manuscript in a clear, concise, and organized style.
  • Preparing all sections (abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references).
  • Including tables and figures within the text where they are first cited.
  • Providing ethical approval statements (where applicable).
  • Ensuring originality by avoiding plagiarism, duplication, or simultaneous submission to another journal.

Supporting documents such as cover letters, conflict of interest statements, and author contribution details should also be prepared.

2. Online Submission Portal

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JMHP submission portal. The system allows authors to:

  • Create an account and manage submissions.
  • Upload manuscripts and supplementary materials.
  • Track the progress of their manuscript through the review process.

Upon successful submission, authors receive an acknowledgment email with a unique tracking ID.

3. Initial Editorial Assessment

The editorial office conducts a preliminary check to verify:

  • Compliance with formatting and ethical guidelines.
  • Alignment with the journal’s aims and scope.
  • Completeness of required files and declarations.

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to authors for correction before peer review.

4. Peer Review Process

Eligible manuscripts proceed to double-blind peer review, where independent experts evaluate them for:

  • Originality and novelty.
  • Methodological rigor.
  • Ethical compliance.
  • Relevance to mental health and psychiatry.
  • Clarity and significance of findings.

Reviewers provide constructive feedback, and authors are encouraged to revise their work in response.

5. Editorial Decision

Following peer review, the Editor-in-Chief (in consultation with Associate Editors and reviewers) makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept – The manuscript is ready for publication.
  • Minor Revision – The manuscript requires small corrections before acceptance.
  • Major Revision – Substantial improvements are required; authors may resubmit for further consideration.
  • Reject – The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or scope.

All decisions are communicated clearly to authors with supporting feedback.

6. Revision and Resubmission

When revisions are requested, authors should:

  • Address reviewer comments point-by-point in a response letter.
  • Highlight changes made in the revised manuscript.
  • Resubmit within the timeline provided by the editorial office.

Revised manuscripts may undergo further review to confirm that concerns have been addressed.

7. Acceptance and Production

Once accepted, manuscripts enter the production stage:

  • Copyediting and formatting are performed to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Authors review proofs and approve final corrections.
  • Articles are published online as Open Access, making them freely available to readers worldwide.

8. Post-Publication Opportunities

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Share their published article through academic networks, institutional repositories, and conferences.
  • Engage with JMHP’s community by contributing to special issues, editorials, or invited reviews.
  • Track readership and citation metrics, which are made available through the journal’s platform.

9. Assistance and Support

The editorial office is committed to assisting authors throughout the submission process. For questions related to technical submission issues, formatting requirements, or ethical concerns, authors may contact the editorial team directly through the Contact Us page.

By adhering to this submission process, authors help maintain JMHP’s mission of advancing high-quality, ethical, and impactful research in the fields of psychiatry and mental health. The journal takes pride in fostering an efficient and fair review system that values both scientific rigor and author experience.
