The Journal of Clinical Trials welcomes high-quality submissions from global researchers, clinicians, and investigators engaged in all phases of clinical research. To ensure an efficient and smooth experience for authors, our submission process is fully digital and guided by transparency, fairness, and editorial rigor.
This page outlines the step-by-step process for submitting a manuscript to the journal, from initial preparation to post-acceptance publication.
✦ Step 1: Prepare Your Manuscript
Before submitting, ensure your manuscript adheres to the journal’s formatting and ethical standards. Refer to the Instructions for Authors page for detailed guidelines, including:
- Manuscript structure
- Referencing style (Vancouver format)
- Figure and table requirements
- Ethical declarations and clinical trial registration
- Cover letter template
Use standardized reporting guidelines where applicable (e.g., CONSORT, SPIRIT, PRISMA).
✦ Step 2: Register and Log in
✦ Step 3: Submit Your Manuscript
Upload your files in the following order:
- Main manuscript (blinded, without author names)
- Title page with author details, affiliations, and corresponding author contact
- Figures and tables (high-resolution, submitted separately)
- Supplementary material (if applicable)
- Ethical approval letter, trial registration certificate (if required)
- Cover letter to the Editor-in-Chief
All files should be in editable formats such as .doc, .docx, .xls, .jpg, or .png.
✦ Step 4: Editorial Screening
Once submitted:
- The editorial office will perform an initial check for completeness, scope alignment, and formatting compliance.
- Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements will be returned to the authors for correction before peer review.
- Those meeting the criteria proceed to editorial review and peer assessment.
⚖️ Step 5: Peer Review and Editorial Decision
- Submissions undergo double-blind peer review by two or more independent experts.
- The assigned editor will evaluate the reviewer reports and provide an editorial decision:
- Accept
- Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions
- Reject
Authors will be notified by email, along with reviewers’ comments and the editor’s recommendations.
✍️ Step 6: Revision and Resubmission
- If revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised manuscript along with a point-by-point response to reviewers' comments.
- Revised submissions are reassessed by the editor and, if necessary, sent back to reviewers for final approval.
✅ Step 7: Acceptance and Final Processing
- Upon acceptance, the manuscript enters production and proofreading.
- Authors will receive a final version for approval before publication.
- A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) will be assigned, and the article will be published online in the next issue.
✦ Step 8: Publication and Indexing
- The article will be made immediately available online as open access under SCICONX Publishing’s publishing model.
- Indexing in databases will follow as per journal indexing agreements and future partnerships.
⏱️ Typical Timeline
- Initial editorial check: 3-5 business days
- Peer review: 2-3 weeks
- Revisions (if any): 1-3 weeks
- Final decision and publication: ~1 week after acceptance
