The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry is an open access journal, committed to making high-quality scientific research freely available to the global community without subscription barriers. To sustain this open access publishing model, we apply a transparent Article Processing Charge (APC) to accepted manuscripts. This fee covers the costs associated with peer review management, editorial handling, professional production, online hosting, indexing, and long-term digital archiving.

1. What Does the APC Cover?

The APC ensures that every published article meets international publishing standards and remains permanently accessible. Specifically, the charge supports:

  • Rigorous double-blind peer review coordination.
  • Professional copyediting and typesetting to maintain consistency and readability.
  • High-quality digital formatting of text, figures, tables, and chemical structures.
  • Assignment of DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for permanent citation.
  • Indexing and archiving in international databases for global visibility.
  • Long-term preservation of articles in digital repositories.

2. Article Processing Charges Structure

  • The Standard article processing charges are 1229 Euros and these APCs are exclusive of any applicable taxes.

Note: Charges apply only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication following peer review.

3. Payment Process

  • Once a manuscript is accepted, the corresponding author will receive an APC invoice with detailed payment instructions.
  • Payment can be made via credit card, bank transfer, or institutional payment systems.
  • Articles are only forwarded to production once payment confirmation is received.

4. Institutional and Funding Support

  • Many institutions, universities, and research funders allocate resources to cover APCs as part of their open access policies.
  • Authors are encouraged to check with their institution or funding agency regarding APC support.
  • The journal is open to institutional agreements or consortia-based support to reduce costs for affiliated authors.

5. Transparency and Policy Assurance

  • The APC structure is transparent and free of hidden costs.
  • Editorial decisions are completely independent of authors’ ability to pay; peer review is based solely on scientific merit.

6. Withdrawal Policy

SCICONX Publishing respects authors’ rights to request manuscript withdrawal but emphasizes that such requests should be made responsibly due to the significant time and resources invested by editors, reviewers, and the publishing team. Authors may withdraw their manuscript without penalty before peer review begins. During peer review, a valid reason—such as ethical concerns, duplication, or submission errors—must be provided. Post-acceptance withdrawal is strongly discouraged, and submitting the same manuscript to another journal without proper justification is considered unethical and may be reported. To offset editorial and processing efforts, a withdrawal fee equivalent to 40% of the Article Processing Charge (APC) may be applied for requests made after peer review starts. The Editorial Office retains the right to approve or decline withdrawal requests, particularly in cases of suspected misconduct or duplication. SCICONX encourages authors to thoroughly evaluate the journal’s scope and policies prior to submission to minimize unnecessary withdrawal requests, ensuring a smooth and ethical publishing process.
