The SCICONX Journal of Diabetes Complications and Management (JDCM) operates under an open-access publishing model, ensuring that all published articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide without subscription barriers. To support the editorial, peer review, and publication processes, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

Purpose of APC

The APC is designed to cover the essential costs involved in the publication process, including:

  • Editorial assessment and manuscript handling
  • Coordination of the peer review process
  • Copyediting, formatting, and typesetting
  • Digital archiving and online hosting
  • Indexing and metadata management
  • Website maintenance and journal operations

The Journal is committed to maintaining transparency in its fee structure and ensuring value for authors through high-quality publishing services.

APC Structure

  • The Standard article processing charges are 1229 Euros and these APCs are exclusive of any applicable taxes.

Note: Charges apply only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication following peer review.

What the APC Includes

Authors paying the APC benefit from:

  • Rigorous and transparent peer review
  • Professional editorial and production services
  • Open-access publication with global visibility
  • Assignment of a unique DOI through Crossref
  • Long-term digital archiving and accessibility

Payment Policy

  • APC is applicable only after manuscript acceptance
  • There are no submission or review charges
  • Payment instructions will be provided upon acceptance
  • Articles will proceed to publication only after payment confirmation

Open Access Benefits

As an open-access journal, JDCM ensures:

  • Immediate and free access to all published articles
  • Increased visibility and citation potential
  • Wider dissemination of research findings
  • Accessibility to researchers, clinicians, and policymakers globally

Refund Policy

  • APC payments are generally non-refundable once the article has entered the production stage
  • Refunds may be considered only in exceptional circumstances, subject to editorial review

Withdrawal Policy

SCICONX Publishing respects authors’ rights to request manuscript withdrawal but emphasizes that such requests should be made responsibly due to the significant time and resources invested by editors, reviewers, and the publishing team. Authors may withdraw their manuscript without penalty before peer review begins. During peer review, a valid reason—such as ethical concerns, duplication, or submission errors—must be provided. Post-acceptance withdrawal is strongly discouraged, and submitting the same manuscript to another journal without proper justification is considered unethical and may be reported. To offset editorial and processing efforts, a withdrawal fee equivalent to 40% of the Article Processing Charge (APC) may be applied for requests made after peer review starts. The Editorial Office retains the right to approve or decline withdrawal requests, particularly in cases of suspected misconduct or duplication. SCICONX encourages authors to thoroughly evaluate the journal’s scope and policies prior to submission to minimize unnecessary withdrawal requests, ensuring a smooth and ethical publishing process.

Transparency and Ethics

The Journal maintains strict separation between editorial decisions and financial considerations.

  • Acceptance of a manuscript is based solely on scientific merit and quality
  • Payment of APC does not influence editorial or peer review decisions
  • The journal adheres to ethical publishing standards recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Payment Methods

Authors may complete APC payments through secure and internationally accepted methods, such as:

  • Online payment gateways
  • Bank transfers
  • Other approved payment options (as communicated by the journal)

Detailed payment instructions will be shared with the corresponding author upon acceptance.

The APC model adopted by the journal enables the journal to maintain high-quality publishing standards while ensuring unrestricted access to scientific knowledge. The journal remains committed to providing a fair, transparent, and author-friendly publishing experience.
