4. Manuscript Structure and Required Files

JCITE requires the following core components:

4.1 Main Manuscript File

Numbered pages including:

  • Introduction
  • Materials & Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References

4.2 Figures and Tables

  • Embedded in the text and uploaded as separate high-resolution files
  • Clear captions for each figure/table

4.3 Supporting Information

Optional files such as:

  • Extended data tables
  • Additional experimental details
  • Code or analytical scripts

5. Cover Letter (Highly Recommended)

Your cover letter should:

  • Summarize the significance of your work
  • Explain why it is suitable for JCITE
  • Highlight key advances and translational relevance

A well-written cover letter can help editors assign the most appropriate reviewers.

6. Initial Submission Quality Check

Once submitted, your manuscript undergoes an automated and editorial quality check:

6.1 Editor Triage

The editorial office reviews for:

  • Scope alignment
  • Completeness of required files
  • Adherence to ethical reporting
  • Language clarity sufficient for peer review

Submissions that fail this stage may be returned for revision or desk-rejected with guidance.

Note: Desk rejection is not a judgment of quality - it may reflect scope mismatch or the need for improved clarity.

7. Peer Review Assignment

Manuscripts passing initial checks are assigned to an Associate Editor, who then:

  • Identifies 2–3 expert reviewers
  • Ensures absence of conflicts of interest
  • Sets targeted review timelines

JCITE follows double-blind peer review to promote unbiased evaluation.

8. Peer Review and Editorial Evaluation

8.1 Review Process

Reviewers assess:

  • Originality and scientific contribution
  • Methodological rigor and reproducibility
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Ethical compliance
  • Clarity of presentation

8.2 Editor Synthesis

The handling editor integrates reviewer comments with their own evaluation to determine one of the following:

  • Accept as submitted
  • Request minor revisions
  • Request major revisions
  • Reject

9. Revision and Response

If revisions are requested:

9.1 Author Revision

  • Respond to reviewer/editor comments in a point-by-point response document
  • Highlight changes in the revised manuscript
  • Address each concern thoroughly and respectfully

9.2 Resubmission

Your revised files are uploaded via the submission portal.

The handling editor may:

  • Accept revised work
  • Send it back to reviewers
