Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Biomedical Science (JBS) welcomes submissions from researchers, clinicians, and professionals across the biomedical and life sciences. To ensure a smooth review and publication process, authors are requested to follow the guidelines outlined below.

1. General Information

  • All submissions must be original works that have not been published elsewhere and are not under consideration by another journal.
  • Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Authors who are not proficient in English may consider professional editing before submission.
  • By submitting, authors confirm that all listed contributors meet the criteria for authorship and that the manuscript complies with ethical and publishing standards.
  • JBS follows an open-access model; all published articles are freely available to readers worldwide.

2. Article Types Accepted

The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles – Full-length reports of novel and significant findings.
  • Review Articles – Comprehensive summaries of current knowledge on a specific topic.
  • Mini Reviews – Concise overviews highlighting recent advances.
  • Short Communications – Brief reports of preliminary but important findings.
  • Case Reports/Case Series – Unique clinical cases that provide insights into diagnosis or treatment.
  • Technical Notes/Methodologies – Descriptions of new techniques, experimental approaches, or protocols.
  • Editorials and Commentaries – Expert opinions on current issues in biomedical science.

3. Manuscript Preparation

3.1 Structure of Original Research Articles

  • Title Page: Title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author details.
  • Abstract: 200–300 words, structured into Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
  • Keywords: 4–6 relevant terms for indexing.
  • Introduction: Background and objectives of the study.
  • Materials and Methods: Detailed description enabling reproducibility.
  • Results: Clear presentation of findings, with figures and tables where necessary.
  • Discussion: Interpretation, significance, limitations, and comparison with existing literature.
  • Conclusion: Key takeaways and future directions.
  • Acknowledgments: Recognition of contributors, funding, or institutional support.
  • References: Cited according to the journal’s reference style (see below).

3.2 Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Word (.docx) format.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced.
  • Figures and tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript or uploaded as separate files.
  • Figure captions and table titles should be clear and descriptive.
  • References must be cited in-text using [numbered style] and listed in order of appearance. Example:
    • Journal Article: Smith J, Lee A. Advances in nanomedicine for drug delivery. Biomed Res J. 2022;15(3):120-134.
    • Book: Brown K. Principles of Molecular Biology. 3rd ed. Oxford University Press; 2020.

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Human and Animal Research: Studies involving human participants must follow the Declaration of Helsinki and provide ethics committee approval. Animal studies must comply with institutional and national guidelines.
  • Informed Consent: Required for studies involving human subjects, patients, or case reports.
  • Conflict of Interest: All authors must disclose potential conflicts of interest.
  • Plagiarism Policy: JBS maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism; all manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

5. Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening for suitability and compliance.
  • Submissions that pass screening are sent for double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.
  • Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback.
  • The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

7. Submission Procedure

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.
  • Authors should create an account, upload the manuscript and supplementary files, and track progress through the editorial process.

8. Copyright & Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction with proper citation.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any previously published material included in their work.

9. Post-Publication Policies

  • Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be published, if necessary, in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
  • Authors are encouraged to share their published articles widely through repositories, institutional archives, and academic networks.
