The Journal of Biomedical Engineering is an open-access publication, committed to providing unrestricted and immediate access to high-quality scientific content. To sustain the costs associated with editorial management, rigorous peer review, online hosting, and long-term archiving, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied to accepted manuscripts.

✦ Transparency and Accessibility

Our APC structure is designed to ensure transparency, affordability, and inclusivity. Authors are required to pay the APC only after their manuscript has successfully qualified in the preliminary quality check process or the peer review process was initiated and has been formally accepted for publication.

✦ What the APC Covers

The APC supports the following publishing services:

  • Editorial review and management of manuscripts.
  • Coordination of a fair and timely peer-review process.
  • Professional copyediting, typesetting, and formatting.
  • Online hosting and global dissemination of articles.
  • Long-term digital preservation and indexing.
  • Open access availability of the article under a permissive license, ensuring maximum visibility and impact.

✦ APC Rates

  • The Standard article processing charges are 1229 Euros and these APCs are exclusive of any applicable taxes.

Note: Charges apply only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication following peer review.

✦ Payment Procedure

Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors will receive an invoice with detailed instructions for APC payment. Payment must be completed before the article is prepared for publication.

✦ Commitment to Ethical Publishing

The APC model ensures that all published content remains freely accessible to readers worldwide, without subscription barriers. This aligns with our mission to advance knowledge and foster innovation in the field of biomedical engineering.
