Instructions for Authors

The SCICONX Journal of Advanced Materials & Engineering (JAME) welcomes submissions from researchers, engineers, and innovators across the globe. To maintain a high standard of scholarly communication, authors are required to follow the detailed guidelines below when preparing and submitting manuscripts.

These instructions ensure consistency, clarity, and quality, enabling an efficient editorial and peer-review process.

1. General Submission Guidelines:

1.1 Originality & Exclusivity

Manuscripts must be:

  • Original and not previously published.
  • Not under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.
  • Free from plagiarism, duplicate content, and data manipulation.
  • Authors must confirm originality during submission.

1.2 Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English. Authors may use either American or British English but must maintain consistency.

1.3 Manuscript Format

JAME accepts manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format only. PDF files are not accepted for initial submission.

1.4 Submission Portal

Manuscripts should be submitted via the official SCICONX submission system (or email). Detailed instructions will be provided on the journal’s website.

1.5 Cover Letter

A cover letter must accompany each submission and should include:

  • Manuscript title
  • Article type (Research, Review, Short Communication, etc.)
  • Confirmation of originality
  • Statement of author contributions
  • Declaration that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere

2. Manuscript Structure:

All manuscripts should be arranged in the following order:

2.1 Title Page

Must include:

  • Full manuscript title (concise, informative)
  • Author names and their affiliations
  • Corresponding author details (email, phone number, full address)
  • ORCID IDs (optional but recommended)

2.2 Abstract

A structured abstract of 150–250 words, briefly summarizing:

  • Purpose of the study
  • Methods
  • Key findings
  • Conclusions & implications
  • Avoid citations in the abstract.

2.3 Keywords

Provide 4 - 8 keywords that accurately represent the study.

2.4 Main Text Structure

For Research Articles, the structure should follow:

  1. Introduction
    • Background, rationale, objectives
  2. Materials and Methods
    • Sufficient detail to ensure reproducibility
  3. Results
    • Clear, concise presentation of findings
  4. Discussion
    • Interpretation, significance, limitations
  5. Conclusion
    • Summary and potential future perspectives

For Review Articles:

  • Introduction
  • Thematic sections
  • Summary
  • Future directions
  • Conclusion

For Short Communications:

  • Brief introduction
  • Concise methods
  • Key results
  • Short conclusion

3. Figures, Tables & Illustrations:

3.1 Figures

  • Must be submitted in high resolution (300 dpi or above)
  • Acceptable formats: PNG, TIFF, JPEG, or embedded in Word
  • Number figures sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)
  • Each figure must have a descriptive caption

3.2 Tables

  • Should be editable text (not images)
  • Number them as Table 1, Table 2, etc.
  • Include concise titles and footnotes where necessary

3.3 Supplementary Material

Additional datasets, high-resolution images, videos, or extended tables may be submitted as supplementary files.

4. References:

4.1 Citation Style

JAME follows the APA (7th edition) reference style, unless a specific citation format is requested for a special issue.

4.2 In-Text Citations

Examples:

  • Single author: (Smith, 2023)
  • Two authors: (Rahman & Kumar, 2022)
  • Three or more authors: (Chen et al., 2024)

4.3 Reference List

  • Should be arranged in alphabetical order
  • Include DOI numbers wherever available
  • Verify all citations for accuracy and completeness

5. Ethical Considerations:

5.1 Research Ethics

Authors must confirm compliance with ethical standards for:

  • Human or animal studies
  • Data acquisition and reporting
  • Environmental and material safety regulations

5.2 Plagiarism Policy

All submissions undergo plagiarism screening. Manuscripts with excessive similarity will be rejected.

5.3 Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts that may influence the work.

5.4 Authorship Criteria

Only individuals who made substantial contributions should be listed as authors. Gift authorship and ghost authorship are strictly prohibited.

6. Article Processing Charges (APC):

JAME is an open-access journal. Authors are required to pay an APC after acceptance. APC details are available on the journal’s APC Information page.

7. Review & Publication Process:

7.1 Peer Review System

The journal follows a double-blind peer-review process. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.

7.2 Editorial Decision

Possible outcomes include:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

7.3 Revision Submission

Revised manuscripts should include:

  • Tracked changes version
  • Clean version
  • Response letter addressing reviewer comments point-by-point

8. Proofs & Publication:

8.1 Galley Proofs

Accepted manuscripts will undergo formatting and typesetting. Authors will receive proofs for final approval.

8.2 Online Publication

Once approved, articles will be published online in the upcoming issue and indexed accordingly.

9. Copyright & Licensing:

JAME publishes under an open-access license. Authors retain copyright, and the article is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license unless otherwise specified.
