Welcome to the author submission guidelines for SCICONX Journal of Advances in Diabetes Biology (JADB). These instructions are designed to help you prepare and submit your manuscript for consideration in our peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to high-impact research in the biological sciences of diabetes.
Please read this document carefully before submission. Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines may be returned for revision prior to peer review.

1. General Submission Requirements
By submitting a manuscript to JADB, authors agree:
- The work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
- All authors have reviewed and approved the final version.
- All relevant ethical standards for human or animal research have been followed.
- Any conflict of interest or funding support has been transparently disclosed.
2. Manuscript Categories
JADB considers the following types of contributions:
a. Original Research Articles
b. Review Articles
c. Short Communications
d. Perspectives & Commentaries
e. Methods & Protocols
3. Language and Style
- Manuscripts must be submitted in clear and professional English.
- Use the active voice and consistent scientific terminology.
- Abbreviations should be defined at first mention.
- Follow conventional biological nomenclature standards.
4. Manuscript Structure
All submissions must include the following sections:
a. Title Page
- Title of the manuscript.
- Full list of authors with affiliations.
- ORCID IDs for all authors (encouraged).
- Corresponding author contacts information.
- A running title (≤ 80 characters).
b. Abstract
- Structured into: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
- Word limit: 250 - 300 words.
- No references or undefined abbreviations.
c. Keywords
- 4 - 6 keywords that reflect the core scientific content.
d. Main Text
Order for Original Articles and Short Communications:
- Introduction
Context, scientific rationale, and objectives.
- Materials and Methods
Detailed experimental design, reagents, protocols, and statistical methods.
- Results
Clearly presented findings with supporting figures and tables.
- Discussion
Interpretation of results, limitations, and biological significance.
- Conclusions
Key takeaways and future research directions.
e. Acknowledgements
Funding sources, contributions not qualifying for authorship.
f. References
- Use Vancouver style citation.
- Minimum three references from the last five years (for original research).
- Ensure accuracy and completeness.
5. Figures and Tables
- Figures: High resolution (≥300 dpi), labeled clearly. Submit separately as TIFF, EPS, or PNG.
- Tables: Editable format within the manuscript file.
- All figures and tables must be cited in the text.
- Provide descriptive captions for all visual elements.
6. Supplementary Material
Supplementary data may be uploaded with the submission:
- Extended datasets
- Additional figures or methods
- Code or computational scripts
Clearly label and reference each item in the main manuscript.
7. Ethical Standards
a. Human Subjects
- Must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki.
- Provide Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval details.
- Include written informed consent from participants.
b. Animal Studies
- Follow internationally recognized animal care and use standards.
- Provide ethical approval information.
c. Authorship Criteria
All listed authors must have contributed significantly to:
- Conceptualization, design, or execution of the work
- Drafting or critical revision
- Approval of the final version
8. Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts:
- Financial interests
- Research support
- Personal relationships
Disclosures must be stated explicitly within the manuscript.
9. Funding and Acknowledgements
List all funding sources using full organization names:
- Grant numbers
- Funding agency details
- Role of funders (if applicable)
Acknowledgements should include contributions not warranting authorship.
10. Peer Review Process
All submissions are evaluated through a rigorous double-blind peer review:
- Preliminary editorial assessment
- Independent expert reviewers
- Constructive feedback with revisions
- Final editorial decision
Authors may suggest preferred reviewers but final selection is at the editor’s discretion.
11. Publication Ethics and Misconduct
JADB adheres to strict ethical standards. Any evidence of:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate submissions
- Unethical research conduct
will trigger investigation and potential retraction following COPE guidelines.
12. Open Access and Licensing
JADB is an open-access journal. All published articles are:
- Freely available to read and download
- Distributed under a CC BY 4.0 license
- Authors retain copyright
13. Article Processing Charges (APCs)
JADB operates on a transparent APC model:
- APC amounts are stated clearly on the journal homepage.
- Concessions or discounts may be considered for eligible authors.
14. Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted through the JADB online submission portal:
- Register or log in
- Upload all required files
- Complete author and manuscript metadata
- Confirm compliance with guidelines
- Submit and receive tracking ID
