Peer Review Process

The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Research (JAIMR) follows a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure that all published research meets the highest standards of quality, originality, and scientific integrity.

1. Initial Manuscript Screening

  • Upon submission, all manuscripts are first checked by the Editorial Office for completeness, adherence to journal guidelines, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Manuscripts that do not meet these basic criteria may be returned to the authors for revision before formal review.

2. Editor Assignment

  • Each manuscript is assigned to an Editor or Associate Editor with relevant expertise.
  • The editor evaluates the manuscript’s suitability for peer review and ensures alignment with JAIMR’s focus on AI applications in medicine.

3. Reviewer Selection

  • Suitable expert reviewers are selected based on their knowledge in the subject area.
  • JAIMR follows a double-blind review policy: authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other to ensure impartial evaluation.

4. Review Process

  • Reviewers critically assess the manuscript for originality, methodology, scientific validity, clarity, and ethical compliance.
  • Reviewers provide detailed feedback, including major and minor comments, and a recommendation regarding the manuscript’s suitability for publication.

5. Editorial Decision

  • Based on reviewer reports and the editor’s assessment, one of the following decisions is communicated to the authors:
    • Accept: Manuscript is approved for publication without changes.
    • Minor Revision: Manuscript requires small modifications; authors are requested to revise and resubmit.
    • Major Revision: Manuscript requires substantial changes; authors must address reviewer comments in detail.
    • Reject: Manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or scope.

6. Revision and Resubmission

  • Authors are expected to address all reviewer comments and provide a detailed response to each point.
  • Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the same reviewers or editorial board members as necessary.

7. Final Acceptance and Publication

  • Once the manuscript meets the journal’s standards, it undergoes copyediting, formatting, and proofreading before final publication.
  • JAIMR publishes articles as open access, making them freely available to the global research community.

8. Ethical Considerations

  • The peer review process is designed to uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Editors and reviewers must maintain confidentiality and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

By maintaining a transparent, fair, and rigorous peer review process, JAIMR ensures the integrity and impact of the research it publishes, fostering innovation in the application of AI in medicine.
