As a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME), his expertise encompasses Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV), Computer System Validation (CSV), cleaning and sterilization validation, and Data Integrity. Throughout his career, he has built a proven track record of managing high-performing teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous process improvements. Currently, Birju serves as the Validation Manager at Anika Therapeutics in Bedford, MA, where he oversees the Site Validation Program and leads a team of nine direct reports for an aseptic manufacturing facility. His professional journey includes significant leadership roles at Editas Medicine, where he authored critical Validation and Data Integrity policies, and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, where he led teams in validating sterilization and cleaning processes for parenteral drug products. His foundational experience also includes roles at Sanofi Pasteur and Excel Healthcare. Beyond his operational leadership, Birju is deeply involved in pharmaceutical research, with specific interests in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. He has published research on lipid nanoparticle-based delivery systems for mRNA vaccines and risk-based approaches for audit trails and data integrity. Furthermore, he serves as a peer reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Medical Internet Research, focusing on therapeutic AI systems and medical devices.
