Editor Department of Biomedical Engineering Nanyang Technological University, Singapore BiographyDr. Pan Houwen Matthew received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS), 2016. During his PhD, he was also funded by DAAD for a 1-year Research Exchange in University of Bayreuth, Germany. He is currently a Research Fellow in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers including engineers, cell biologists, and polymer chemists on innovations in the field of bioengineering. In his research career, he has worked on and led a multitude of research projects such as the development of biomaterials for bioprinting, cell encapsulation, delivery of therapeutics, and the synthesis of stimuli-responsive materials for 4D printing. As a young researcher, he has authored more than 10 articles in prestigious journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, and Biofabrication, 2 book chapters, 2 patents related to IP in the field of 3D bioprinting and cell encapsulation, and several conference papers.
